Location“The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prescribed Zakat al-Fitr as purification for the fasting person from idle talk and obscenity, and as food for the poor.”
— Hadith (Abu Dawood)
Ramadan is a month of mercy, generosity, and multiplied reward. As it draws to a close, it reminds us that true fasting is not only restraint, but care for those around us. Fitrana is a means of completing our fasts and ensuring that no one is left hungry on the day of Eid.Zakat al-Fitr is prescribed for every eligible Muslim and must be given before Eid prayer. Through this act, Allah (SWT) allows the joy of Eid to be shared by all, especially those who struggle to meet their most basic needs. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) made Fitrana obligatory so that the poor may be spared from asking on the day of Eid. Through this command, Islam ensures that Eid is a day of celebration for everyone, not only those with abundance, but also those in need.
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Give Zakat al-Fitr on behalf of every person, young and old, free and slave.”
— Hadith (Bukhari & Muslim)
Across Pakistan, thousands of families face illness and poverty simultaneously. For them, even modest support can mean nourishment, relief, and reassurance at a critical time. Fitrana plays a vital role in easing immediate hardship and allowing families to experience Eid with peace and dignity. Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) serves as a trusted channel for your Fitrana, ensuring it reaches eligible recipients with care and transparency. With a majority of our patients belonging to zakat-eligible households, your Fitrana supports free treatment, medicines, nutrition, and essential care, helping families approach Eid with hope rather than worry.
Calculate the prescribed Fitrana amount for each dependent in your household
Ensure Fitrana is given on behalf of every family member, including children
Fitrana must be distributed before Eid Salah to fulfill its obligation
Give Fitrana solely for the sake of Allah (SWT), to feed those in need
As Ramadan draws to a close, Fitrana allows us to complete our month of fasting with empathy and responsibility. It reminds us that worship in Islam is never isolated from society, and that personal devotion finds its true meaning when it uplifts others.
By giving Fitrana, we help ensure that Eid is not a day of worry or want for those who are struggling, but a moment of dignity, relief, and shared joy. It cleanses our fasts of any shortcomings and transforms them into a source of nourishment for others. In this final act of giving, we carry the spirit of Ramadan beyond ourselves, so that the blessings of Eid reach every home, every table, and every heart.
