After a week of immersive learning, meaningful interactions, and life-changing experiences, the Youth Training Program (YTP), Summer 2026 came to a close with a day that perfectly reflected the values at the heart of Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN): compassion, service, and giving back.

To mark the culmination of the program, trainees organised a Carnival of Care for children receiving treatment through IHHN’s Childhood Cancer Program. They designed and managed interactive game stalls, creating a fun-filled environment where young patients and their families could momentarily step away from the challenges of treatment and simply enjoy being themselves.
The activity was a powerful reminder that compassionate care extends beyond medicine. Through every game, smile, and shared moment, trainees experienced the joy of giving without expecting anything in return.

Alongside the games, children from the Childhood Cancer Program created a beautiful origami artwork using paper boats; each one symbolizing hope, resilience, and brighter days ahead.
The artwork, with an opening bid of PKR 20,000, was later auctioned during a dinner hosted by IHHN’s Board Members, ultimately raising PKR 200,000. Every rupee from the auction will go towards providing treatment for children battling cancer, transforming a simple art activity into lasting hope for countless families.

A Closing Ceremony was arranged for the trainees, their parents, IHHN staff, and program facilitators.
Parents reflected on the importance of giving their children an opportunity to reconnect with Pakistan through a meaningful and grounding experience. By witnessing the realities faced by patients and healthcare professionals, trainees gained a deeper understanding of empathy, social responsibility, and IHHN’s mission to provide free, indiscriminate, and compassionate healthcare to all.

In the program’s final moments, trainees joined Dr. Zafar Zaidi took a pledge to continue serving their communities beyond the program. Whether through fundraising, advocacy, awareness campaigns, or community initiatives in their home countries, they committed to carrying forward the spirit of service they had experienced throughout the week.

A merchandise stall featuring IHHN-branded tote bags, notebooks, water bottles, pouches, lanyards, and postcards also gave staff members and families another opportunity to contribute, with proceeds supporting the Childhood Cancer Program.
The final day of the Youth Training Program was more than a farewell, it was the beginning of a lifelong commitment to compassion and service.
Over the course of one transformative week, trainees learned that healthcare is not only about treating illness but also about restoring dignity, inspiring hope, and uplifting communities. As they return home, they carry with them the values that define IHHN, ready to become ambassadors of compassion wherever they go.
