Some classrooms have whiteboards. Others have hospital beds nearby.
For Muhammad Sadiq, learning today looks a little different than it once did. His school bag now shares space with treatment schedules, doctor’s appointments, and chemotherapy sessions. Yet despite everything, he is still, above all else, a student—a young boy whose future is filled with lessons to learn, dreams to chase, and a childhood worth protecting.
When Sadiq became seriously ill, his mother rushed him to a hospital, desperate for answers. Doctors diagnosed him with leukemia. His fever was dangerously high, his blood counts had fallen sharply, and his white blood cell levels were rapidly declining. Blood transfusions became a necessity, followed by the need for specialized white blood cell transfusions. As the costs continued to rise, so did the family’s worries.
Then someone told them about The Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN).
At IHHN, Sadiq’s care began immediately. Our medical team conducted thorough investigations, managed his fever, treated the unexplained spots that had appeared across his body, and arranged the blood transfusions he urgently needed. Today, he continues his chemotherapy with the support of a multidisciplinary team committed not only to treating his illness, but to caring for the child behind the diagnosis.
Because cancer should never be allowed to take away a childhood.
Between treatments, Sadiq attends Indus Kay Sitaray, IHHN’s hospital-based school, where children receiving long-term treatment can continue their education in an environment designed around their medical needs. Working closely with doctors, nurses, and the psychosocial team, the school ensures that healing extends beyond medicine, allowing young patients to keep learning, growing, and imagining brighter tomorrows.
Cancer may have interrupted Sadiq’s routine, but it has not defined who he is.
He is still raising his hand in class. Still discovering new ideas. Still moving forward, one lesson, one treatment, and one hopeful day at a time.
Because every child deserves the chance to dream beyond their diagnosis.
