Day 2 of IHHN’s Youth Training Program shifted the focus from learning about healthcare to experiencing it firsthand. Through interactive sessions and practical activities, trainees explored the many facets of patient care and hospital operations.
The day began with the Pediatric Oncology Psycho-Social Department introducing trainees to the ethical principles of interacting with children undergoing cancer treatment. They then had the opportunity to meet young patients, putting these guidelines into practice with empathy and respect.
The nursing team highlighted the vital role nurses play in patient care while giving trainees hands-on experience in measuring blood pressure and heart rate using essential medical equipment.
Dr. Farah Bari delivered an insightful session on the complexities of managing clinical operations, offering trainees a behind-the-scenes look at how a large healthcare network like IHHN ensures efficient, patient-centred care every day.
The day concluded with a hospital-themed escape room challenge, where trainees worked in teams to respond to a simulated medical emergency. By representing different hospital departments, they learned how collaboration and coordination keep a hospital functioning during critical situations.
From compassionate patient interactions to real-world simulations, Day 2 equipped trainees with practical skills and a deeper appreciation for the teamwork that drives quality healthcare.

Shanzay Fahad, a 16-year old trainee from Dubai aspirig to become a doctor adds,
“I’m here at the Indus YouthTtraining Program to kind of learn more about how a hospital, and how patients are treated and cared for. So far it’s been an amazing experience because it’s a lot more than just classes. Like they have lots of activities planned for us to have a more engaging experience.

Mazen Saleem, 16, from the United States expresses his thoughts on YTP,
“This summer i have been in the Indus Yout Training Program. I have found it wonderful. Over the few days that I’ve been here, we have visited patients and gotten to know them, and learned skills in order to talk to them. We also did an Emergency response activity where there was no digital system to help ambulances get into the hospital, so we had to use everything by paper and it was really fun.
Embark on a meaningful journey by getting involved in our mission to provide quality healthcare for all. Your involvement can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need. Here’s how you can be a catalyst for change.
