Day 3 of IHHN’s Youth Training Program focused on one of the most important aspects of healthcare; building trust with young patients. Through interactive discussions, roleplay, and live patient interactions, trainees explored how empathy and communication shape pediatric care.

Dr. Muhammad Fareeduddin led an engaging session on the ethics of pediatric care, emphasizing the importance of building rapport with children. By creating a safe and trusting environment, healthcare professionals can help young patients express their concerns more openly and receive better care.

To bring these concepts to life, Dr. Fareeduddin conducted a roleplay exercise where he portrayed a reluctant teenage patient refusing an injection. Two trainees stepped into the role of nurses, applying communication techniques to comfort and reassure the patient. The session concluded with reflections and key takeaways on effective pediatric communication.

The day ended with a visit to the pediatric wards on the 10th floor, where trainees observed Dr. Fareeduddin interacting with patients and putting these principles into practice. Witnessing these real-life conversations gave participants a valuable opportunity to see compassionate pediatric care in action and reinforce the lessons learned throughout the day.
