As part of IHHN’s Physical Rehabilitation Program, trainees attended an insightful session led by Ali Punjani, who introduced them to the transformative power of cochlear implants. The session explored how this life-changing technology enables children with profound hearing loss to experience sound and build a future filled with communication, learning, and connection.
The learning soon turned into an unforgettable experience as trainees witnessed a Cochlear Implant Switch On session.
Young Mohammad Ismail, accompanied by his parents, received his cochlear implant processor for the very first time. The device was carefully fitted, and audiologists began sending sound signals to determine whether he could hear them. As the volume was gradually increased, the team ensured Ismail adjusted comfortably to each new sound.
For his parents, it was an overwhelming moment of joy and relief as they watched their child hear sound for the first time. For the trainees, it was a powerful reminder that healthcare is about far more than medical procedures; it is about restoring hope, creating new possibilities, and transforming lives.
The session left everyone inspired by the impact of IHHN’s free-of-cost compassionate care, where moments like these become possible for families who need them most.
