In the underserved community of Makli, Sindh, access to quality healthcare has long been a struggle. Recognizing this need, Indus Hospital & Health Network took a significant initiative by inaugurating a Community Health Center in the heart of Makli, providing comprehensive medical services free of cost to its most vulnerable population.
As part of the student summer training program, IHHN organized a first-hand visit to this clinic, offering them an understanding of the importance of primary care and its transformative impact. Through interactions with staff and nurses, students gained insight into the facility’s process flow and the vital role each professional plays in delivering essential services to the community.
Additionally, they met various patients who were suffering from serious illnesses. This experience allowed them to see the tangible difference primary care made in people’s lives, and helped build their sense of empathy and compassion. The students ended their trip with a tree plantation and a visit to Makli’s necropolis, a UNESCO world heritage site.
“Looking at the smiles of children’s faces has really inspired me to continue working with Indus in supporting them and helping them out. This experience at Indus has been very fulfilling, Allhamdullilah, and I would recommend everybody to take part in it”
-Eman Versiani, 20, from the UAE
