When young Fatima first complained of persistent throat pain and difficulty eating, her family believed it was a minor illness. But as her condition worsened, her brother, Mohammad Khizer, grew increasingly anxious. Seeking answers, he brought her from their hometown in Chakwal to Rawalpindi for further evaluation.
The diagnosis of blood cancer shattered the family’s world. The emotional weight of the illness combined with the crushing reality of unaffordable treatment left them in despair.
Khizer remembers those days as “one of the most uncertain periods of our lives.”
In the midst of this darkness, a ray of hope appeared when someone told them about The Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN). Without hesitation, the family travelled to Karachi and admitted Fatima into IHHN’s paediatric cancer facility.
Here, the doctors, nurses, and staff embraced them with compassion. Every stage of treatment was explained with care, and the family felt supported throughout the journey. Most importantly, the impossible financial burden that once stood in their way was lifted. Fatima began receiving completely free, high-quality treatment, made possible by IHHN’s donor-supported model.
Today, Fatima is receiving care that her family once thought was far beyond their reach. Her brother Khizer shares that the hospital gave them hope when they thought there was none.
Fatima’s fight is not just theirs, it is carried by everyone who stands with Indus.
Embark on a meaningful journey by getting involved in our mission to provide quality healthcare for all. Your involvement can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need. Here’s how you can be a catalyst for change.
