Finding His Voice Again: Abdullah’s Journey to Hearing and Hope

When Silence Spoke Louder Than Words

Tahir, a devoted father from Karachi, began to worry when his three-year-old son, Abdullah, didn’t respond to sounds the way other children did. On family outings, Tahir’s brother noticed the same,  Abdullah wouldn’t react to voices or noise around him. What began as concern soon turned into heartbreak when a visit to their local doctor and subsequent tests revealed the truth: Abdullah had significant hearing loss that would affect his ability to speak and communicate.

The diagnosis left the family devastated. While Abdullah’s older sister thrived in school, he struggled to express even his simplest needs. He couldn’t tell his parents if he was hungry or in pain. Tahir recalls those early days as some of the hardest in his life, watching his little boy live in silence.

Hope Arrives at Indus

Determined not to give up, Tahir took Abdullah to several medical facilities, but the cost of treatment was far beyond the family’s reach. Then, a compassionate doctor recommended Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN),  a place where quality care is provided free of cost to those in need.

At IHHN, Abdullah was welcomed with warmth and dignity. After thorough evaluation and regular appointments, he was first fitted with basic hearing aids and later underwent cochlear implant surgery. The results were transformative. For the first time, Abdullah could hear his parents’ voices, and soon began to respond, smile, and learn words.

A Future Full of Sound and Joy

Today, Abdullah attends school like other children his age. He laughs, learns, and communicates confidently with his family and friends.

“I’m forever grateful to Indus Hospital & Health Network,” says Tahir, his eyes brimming with emotion. “If it wasn’t for their generosity and expertise, Abdullah would still be struggling to communicate.
