At just two years old, Maroos Faris should have been responding to her name, laughing at familiar voices, and learning her first words. But when she turned one, her parents noticed something unsettling: Maroos did not respond when her name was called.
Living in Gadap Town, Karachi, her family grew increasingly worried. After seeking medical advice, Maroos underwent a hearing (Behra) test at Memon Hospital, which confirmed their fears. She was diagnosed with significant hearing loss and urgently needed further evaluation.
For the past eight months, Maroos and her family have been visiting Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), holding onto hope with every appointment. Under the care of Dr. Asif Arain, Maroos underwent detailed investigations, including a CT scan and MRI, essential steps to determine her eligibility for cochlear implant surgery.
Today, her family waits with optimism. If her reports meet the required criteria, Maroos will soon be given a surgery date, bringing her one step closer to a world filled with sound, speech, and learning.
Despite the anxiety of the journey, Maroos’ parents remain grateful. “We are very satisfied with the care, staff, and services at IHHN,” they share. “From doctors to nurses, everyone has treated our child with kindness and dignity.”
With timely intervention and continued support, Maroos has a real chance to hear her parents’ voices for the first time and grow up with the opportunities every child deserves.
