Team GODA’s recent visit to Pakistan marked the 9th year of the Gift of Disability Alleviation (GODA) initiative—a powerful collaboration between volunteer medical professionals from the United States and Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN). Along with their expertise, the team brought orthopaedic and spinal implants worth millions of dollars, ensuring that patients received world-class care completely free of cost.

Travelling thousands of miles with a shared purpose, Team GODA arrived with one mission: to provide life-changing surgeries to patients who had been waiting—often for years—for relief from pain and immobility.

Over the course of the mission, Team GODA worked side by side with IHHN’s skilled medical staff to successfully perform 270 complex procedures, including knee and hip replacements, spinal surgeries, and ACL reconstructions. For patients, these procedures meant far more than medical treatment—they represented a return to independence, dignity, and everyday life.

This year’s mission extended across Karachi and Muzaffargarh, bringing renewed energy, expertise, and compassion to both cities. A team of 15 members operated in Karachi, completing 170 surgeries, while 10 members served in Muzaffargarh, where 100 surgeries were performed. Each operation marked a decisive step toward restoring mobility and rewriting a patient’s future.

The mission concluded with a heartfelt appreciation dinner in Karachi, celebrating the dedication, teamwork, and shared commitment that made this journey possible. As Project GODA comes to a close for another year, its impact continues—carried forward in the lives of hundreds who can now move, work, and live with renewed hope.
